Originally from Lukavac, a small town near Tuzla in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Adnan Slomić, the founder of OneDigIT, began his career at Bicom Systems, where he worked as a Technical Support Engineer between 2016 and 2017. 

He handled support tickets, documentation, testing, and training, which gave him a solid grip on how Bicom’s products worked.

That year at Bicom made a lasting impression. It sparked his passion for telecommunications and helped him build valuable professional relationships, the kind that would come back into play later in his career, after moving to the Netherlands.

After settling in the Netherlands and working in the FinTech space, Adnan began to notice a pattern. Whenever an old PBX system needed replacing, the same issues came up again and again.

“I quickly realized there’s a lot of demand for VoIP services,” he recalls, “but not enough knowledge about VoIP in general. Usually there was an old type of PBX installed on site that was unmanageable, and the company couldn’t be reached. It was a legacy system nobody wanted to touch.

Another issue was that the existing telecom providers didn’t want to deal with companies with fewer than 50 users, and those that did charged premium prices.

So, Adnan saw an opportunity and decided to go for it.

While catching up with former colleagues from Bicom Systems, Adnan saw a clear opportunity: offer reliable telecommunications services at better pricing, especially for SMBs.

As Adnan puts it, “The first time I saw there was a need for PBXware, I reached out.”

That’s how OneDigIT came to life in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, when remote work suddenly became the norm and VoIP became a must-have overnight.

Their first client was a dental practice in the Netherlands that needed a stable telephony solution. 

They ported their existing phone number and delivered the full solution in just a few days. When the practice changed ownership and added a second location, expanding the system was simple.

For Adnan, choosing Bicom Systems again wasn’t so much about sticking with what was familiar, but more about relying on products he trusted to get the job done right.

“After trying out other VoIP systems here in the Netherlands, it became obvious just how well Bicom’s products were built. And having that direct line to product owners for feature requests or custom development is something you just don’t get elsewhere,” Adnan explained.

He highlighted how products like PBXware, SERVERware, and gloCOM made it easy for OneDigIT to offer flexible, modern, and unified telecommunications services from day one. 

The flexibility to mix physical phones along with mobile and desktop softphones across all major platforms (and to switch between them seamlessly) proved to be another significant advantage for OneDigIT.

For OneDigIT, one product stands out above the rest: PBXware Multi-Tenant Edition. It lets them host multiple smaller clients on a single server without overcomplicating things. It’s practical and scales well as the business grows.

And now, with the recent addition of Bicom Systems’ gloCOM Meeting, OneDigIT can expand its offering, giving customers even more ways to stay connected.

Nearly a decade after working at Bicom Systems, the relationship hasn’t changed much, at least not in spirit.

Adnan reflects on his continued experience: “Not much has changed in the way Bicom approaches its customers, and I believe that’s simply part of the company’s culture. Everyone at Bicom is incredibly client-oriented.”

The client base is just as diverse, ranging from dental practices and financial services to healthcare providers and sales organizations. 

One of OneDigIT’s early success stories came from working with a small government institution in the Netherlands. They needed a secure telephony setup for around 50 extensions, a project that was delivered successfully. 

Since the organization is part of a larger EU-level network, there’s plenty of potential for future growth.

Another great story comes from a longtime connection with a Bicom Systems’ partner, Nova IX Technologies. Adnan met Malcolm Turnbull while working at Bicom Systems, and they’ve kept in touch over the years. 

Recently, they worked together on a project for a client with offices in South Africa and the Netherlands. By using the least-cost routing (LCR) feature, calls from the Netherlands to South Africa go through their system, saving money along the way.

OneDigIT’s future is in expanding its team and business. “We’re ready to grow, and that growth is tied closely to Bicom Systems and how their products continue to advance”, Adnan shared.

What began as a solo operation has grown into a team with long-term plans, showing again how experience, timing, and a solid partnership with Bicom Systems can lead to success.
